Another Tax question

Tax question for those really in the know. I believe there is a difference between Canton Geneve and Canton Vaud regarding taxation for Frontaliers holding a G permit. Can anyone please concisely explain who pays what and where? Example, living in France and holding a G Permit and working in Canton Vaud, does one pay ANY tax in CH, all tax in CH or all in France, or any in France. The situation seems to be rather complicated. Thanks very much for all exact answers.

PS looked on the "other forum" but it does not answer what we need to know. TIA

In Geneva you will be taxed at source with a Permit G.  At the end of the year (well sometime in the future anyway) Geneva pays some of that tax over to France.

In Vaud you do not pay tax at source.  In fact you do not pay tax in Switzerland but in France.  And at the end of the year France hands some back to Vaud.

Given that the tax rates are different, and depend on whether you are married, have kids, different wealth tax etc you have to calculate which is better for you.  And then compare to the quality of life.

Profound thanks for the invaluable information - it seems to make an enormous difference in which canton one is employed.
