Any good jazz venues?

Hey guys!

Does anybody know of a nice jazz club or coffee house with live music in Geneva? I wouldn't be opposed to a poetry reading either... though those sometimes run the risk of turning cheesy Wink.

If anyone likes jazz, I'd love company. Cheers!

Am new in town too and VERY keen to find a good jazz spot.. If you find something, do let me know!! By the way, if you are into jazz, try jazzradio.com (free streaming of all types of jazz.. very cool).

try AMR, it is close to the train station.

Cosy atmosphere, cheap beer. live jazz music, and on Tuesday night the entrance is only 5chf.

I can't think of anywhere specifically dedicated to blues, but you could try:

http://www.tacos-bar.ch/

in Lausanne Flon.

Also Brasseurs des Grottes on Thursday:

http://www.bagblues.ch/

Other downtown Geneva pubs like Pickwick sometimes have blues bands. There's also a Blues festival usually in April.

Otherwise check out the 'Sorties' listings in lematin.ch, they have a Blues section (actually this is a good general site for finding out about local music events).

completely agree with Federica - AMR can be great on some nights - it's more of a jazz jam session so the mood always changes too - definitely worth checking it out.

Flux Laboratory in Carouge sometimes has events & the atmosphere is quite cool,

& one of my favorite jazz trios from the Geneva area is Marc Perrenoud Trio, they play in select venues when they are in town...

Thanks for the suggestions! What time does the music usually start, say at AMR for example?

hey all, i run a jazz and classical lovers group, we've done several events and i think i'll try to organize some going forward as well. you'll also find some suggestions but i have to concur that AMR is a great venue and very accessible both price and geographically wise

Some people swear by Chat Noir in Carouge.  I've been to Gabs --- not jazz in my estimation.  There are some concerts coming up at Victoria Hall this fall...
