Basel baggers golf society.  They can often be found in Pick Wick

Basel Rugby Club is very social.  I think there birthday party is coming up so good chance to meet folk

There is an ex pat theatre group there too.  Semi Circle theatre group.  You dont have to act, they have stage designers and people that just want to be involved back stage

Those are social past times, but to meet people and build a social group the ex pat bars are pretty friendly up there to get to know people

yes, But I would like something that is not in a bar, a sort of cultural .-entarteinement association...and I would like to talk in German, but thanks for your suggestion

You could also try posting an “ad.” for an English-German tandem with someone having similar interests either here on glocals or the university’website.  Also check out upcoming events

in the “Classifieds” in the local press to find names and contact details of cultural groups.

Hi Alex,

A good way to start doing some activities is always to go to the Migros Klubschule. In Basel it is located in Gundeli (close to the SBB station).

They have courses across the arts, languages, gastronomy (including wine tasting) and many more.

Otherwise, just do a couple of google searches for activities of interest and I'm sure you'll find many hits. I did this for dance classes and the choice was fantastic.
