Hi I am a very football interested person who would love to play some football while I am in Geneva. I just arrived here and am only staying until right before christmas, but would love if there was anybody out there who would like to play or knew about somebody who does in order to put myself in contact with them...

if you really want to play , then lets form a group. and look out for some indoor space to play during the winter.
at the moment , i know a group playing at vernier.i played there 2x and it is out door.
as the cold sets in , i think it will be impossible to play outside.
so what do you think.

I cannot help you, but my husband may be able to. He is a soccer coach (mostly for kids), in and around Geneva. He also runs a sports and music bar in Paquis called Zen. Pop in and ask for Dean, I am sure he will be able to help you out.

invited by some glocals members, I dont know the policy in that school regarding the use of
facilities by strangers. but I'll come back to you soon with some information. if they are enough

I'm in, too, and I prefer to play goalie - always seems to be rare in Europe for some reason.

football facilities (outdoor) are not available during the club's season. the pitches are reserved
for their trainings and matches.regarding indoor facilities, I met the concierge of the
C.O. des grandes communes @ Onex ,where I used to play.he gave me the following number
of the "Département DCTI, Service de la gérance": 327.48.59.and he told me to ask there about
the policy and the reservation; but he also mentionned there are very very few chances that we
get something because indoor facilities are normally all booked in may!soooo, "this
is it"! WELCOME TO GENEVA!!! :-) what a shame for such a great
city!

There is a sports complex right behind the station where some Glocal folks used (maybe still do) play for free.... I shall try find out if that is still going on (used to be Sunday mornings 11am) Otherwise, please post any organised games on here and count me in - Thanks!!

i know some people who play in versoix every sunday ......
they also organise international tournements about three times a year, i know if i contacted them they will ask if you have a team already? so how about one of you nice people picking a team of 7 to 8 players and i will tell you the time of the gathering and how to get there for the upcoming game......., sorry i can't play in your team since i alredy play in one but lataly i haven't been able to go becase of some health problems ....

Guys im going to suggest Parc Alfred Bertrand on Saturday at 11am. I played here during the summer and there is alot of room for any size game. It is easy enough to get to also. If we put a team together Im sure we could get alot of games from others and if all goes well we could book an indoor venue for the winter, who's in???

its a free park but there is a small area with goals for a 5 on 5 if we only have a few, ill get a ball too, please make sure you can amke it so we have a good idea on numbers and so as not to waste anyones time. i might set up an event so we all know who is going, THE MORE THE MERRIER

Ok great . i 'll make some phone calls tonight to see the possibalities for this sunday (when, and if OK to just bring few players not a whole team,.......) and i will get back to you saturday
as for going there i'll be more than glad to bring up to 4 people in my car
i just have to mention that versoix is a bit far (5KM from the airport direction lausanne on the rte du lac, there is one bus that goes all the way to play ground but it runs every half an hour and it takes about 45 minuts to get there so it is not really a good idea to go by bus .....
one more thing....it is a great outdoor place with many play grounds open for public on the weekends and the people overthere are very friendely

i will let every body know (including you and voyarch) once i know about the practice on sunday , so far no thing is confermed since i wasn't able to make any contact with the person organizing it "yet".
so go a head on saturday i hope you guys have fun , and please tell every one who comes on saturday about putting togeather a team for playing on sundays , i know that the organiser really prefers having a team allready put togather rather than having to do that himself.

If you want the details let me know.
RE> Giuseppe, on tuesday's and sometimes wednesday evenings you can play on the Varembe pitches behind the station, if its still the same its free for anyone to play. You just need to ask or agree to play against another group of players as the pitches fill up fast.
RE> Sundays, there is also a game on grass in coppet, normally about 3 or 4pm on sundays varies from 5-a-side to 10-a-side.

Hi guys,
if you are really into football and willing to play games on week end, you can join one of the local clubs and play in the regional championship. The season in Switzerland goes from august to late november, then after the winter break (where you still have practice sessions indoor + tournaments) it goes from march to june.
If you are not that good but still love football, you can join the 5th league and have some fun. If you are good, try joining 4th and above teams. Don't hesitate in joining foreigners teams, they will warmly welcome you.
Another solution is to create a football team in your company and join the intercompany championship. I don't know if there is such a thing in geneva, but in vaud there is. I currently play for my company against the likes of Continental Capital, Novartis, Uefa, etc...

actually i live in montreux, so it's kind of far from geneva. You can check this website http://www.football.ch/acgf/fr/Championnat.aspx it's the geneva association, there is all the teams there. Just pick one that is near your home/speaks spanish/whatever and go and watch a game. Once there, talk with the coach and see if you can practice with them. If they like you, they will make a card for you and then you can play for them in championship.
