Anyone an expert at selling on Ebay?

Would apprciate if anyone out there could give me a quick step by step guide to selling on Ebay. Does one have to have a PayPal account? Is it quite straightforward. AM having a clear out as have a few bits and bobs that have hardly been used and are just cluttering up my spare room!

Just a general observation:  ebay in Switzerland doesnt really work.  It's not well used and ebay can't cope with french or italian which means that at least half the country can't be bothered to look.  People here tend to use ricardo.ch so you will get a better price there.  Or if you are selling things that someone will have to pick up locally and so can pay cash then try anibis.ch or petitesannonces.ch since you wont pay any fees that way.

But to answer your question,  you dont *need* a paypal account to sell things on ebay but if you don't then you are only going to have demand from local people  who can pick up the goods in person and pay in cash.  Anyone who lives further away and wants you to post it to them will expect to pay via paypal for their security so its ends up being in your interest to have a paypal account.  Its easy to set up.

I brought a world class speaker from the US to teach people how to sell on E bay.

There are definitely proven techniques that work.

I also have some material on how to do this efficiently and effectively - if you want to call me tomorrow I can give you more info.

Happy to help,

Hilary

I actually don't like selling on Ebay, if you are not in a hurry use Amazon.fr and save yourself lots of trouble.  The advantage of Amazon is that you put the item for sale, just choose the condition of the article out of a list and the price and that's all. Then it's listed until it's sold, even if it's years.

With Ebay you need to reactivate your sale again and again, take pictures, answer silly questions, etc.

Cheers,

Aires
