Are GOL members Cheap?
Hi Everyone, I ask this as many times I have placed an ad for people to join my little group of merry folk at the discotech and when leaving some GOL members left without paying. You know who you are.

it depends how much you waist. You could pay the barman to survey your pals ;) Otherwise, ask your folks to pre-pay.

Hi Nic,
It's sad but I saw it happening as often in GoL than out of it.
Tell them directly that they forgot to pay! People often don't even realise and if they did, they will jump on the occasion to apologise and telling "I forgot".
They won't forget next time!
:D

Hi Nick!
Indeed I noticed that some GOL members are indeed "cheap", they will recognize themselves.

I noticed some of your ads booking a table, buying a bottle and inviting ppl to join you at prestigious clubs like Java or Platinum.
Why does this happens?

1) There are always ppl taking advantage of you, and there will always be!

2) In GOL events, you will have ppl that do not really know each other and ppl don't tend to go and buy drinks to ppl they don't know. Nevertheless when I used to live in Belgium, when groups of ppl go out, everyone pays a round during the night.

3) GOL is very wide in all kind fields like, origins, cultures and of social levels. Not everybody works as an expat VP of a multinational and gets a free 4000CHF appartment with a company car, laptop and phone. So it's not always easy to follow when it comes to pay a 700CHF Cristal bottle at the Java or the Platinum

4) In GOL as anywhere else you have unpolite ppl that won't bother to ask how much they owe you for the botttle you've ordered
5) I don't recommend you to ask participants to pre-pay, it's "cheap", so just try to stick with the ppl you're having fun and that won't take advantage of you, the others, just let them outside of your circle

Wish you all the best in the future and happy new year!

I like you speech. Sometimes people don't pay, because they are not educated. Maybe pre-pay is not the smartest solution, but it is a one. By the way, there are other wise advises in the thread, please don't jump at the one that you do not like.

And it is better to talk about the point than to throw people away from your "warm" circle because they did not pay the drink.

...but since there are only 24hours in a day of which I need to sleep at least 6hours to rest, and that with the other 18hours I'm very very busy, I prefer not to waste my precious time to being straight forward and explain some basic education to ppl I don't know. So in my case, I prefer to immediately kick out ppl who just wanna take advantage of me from my circle. But this is just my point of view.

You see when I invite in a disco the women drink free & the guys pay for their drinks. However the guys hardly ever put their hand in their pocket at the end of the night. I guess it must be an education thing.

Hi Nick,

I do not know you. I just know your name from the thread. I think everything is said. And it's up to you to decide, to be with people or to travel.

I suppose that you organized a going out. They did not pay. You are angry, you ask you the questions.

You have two questions:
1. Why it happened (I am a good guy) ?
2. How to do that it does not happen anymore or, at least, not very often ?

If you care for these people, talk to them, organize another going out and apply the clever advises the others gave you.

The speculations about what is wrong and what is right is the waste of time. We don’t know the situation, I don’t know the situation, and frankly speaking, I am not eager to know it. Sorry, if I am sharp, it’s just my point of view.

The debat is about people who I have never met before, who come to a place to meet people and go off without paying. If they have not paid the first time do you think that :-

A) They will come to another of my functions?
B) They will be invited to go to another of my functions?
C) They will show up with some new people, hence I will need to accept them again in my crowd?
D) All of the above?

Many of us have jobs and are very busy people. However we organise events or activities to please other people. If other people did not then you would not have GOL would you?
