I am quiet new in Geneva and I am really interested in visiting galleries now and then.
Any Art amateurs would be interested in checking what's going on on Geneva Art scene ?
Let me know,
we could meet in old town and go around the galleries, and share our impressions!
have a great afternoon,
Lili

I have all your threads and I am vey curious of the Giacometti vernissage and also the Japanese prints. A propos Japan, at the end of the month, there will be the "Mois de la culture japonaise" (http://www.geneve.ch.emb-japan.go.jp/mois2009/mois09_prg.htm)
What I can tell you on Art in Geneva is that you can visit some museums for free the first Sunday of the month.
Another event is the Nuit des Bains (http://www.quartierdesbains.ch/index.php?msg=ok), a kind of open day of art galleries.
Keep me posted ofyour next art events
Ciao

Exhibitions at the Fondation Baur are always spectacular. Not sure when the opening for the Japanese expo will be though.
This evening, there is an opening at the Cité du Temps (Swatch Museum) starting at 5:30pm.

Hello Lili,
I just read xyour message... maybe I can help in getting information about Geneva
and the art scene..
There are several contemporary art galleries around rue des bains
(Plainpalais). 3 times a year all the galleries celebrate their openings the
same night and it is just amazing to see how crowded it is. You might find more
information on this website:
http://www.quartierdesbains.ch/
Also I know
that on 14-15 November these galleries will stay open all day long, on saturday and sunday.
Otherwise, most of the classic and modern art galleries are located in the old city and they also have common openings twice a year: http://www.avv.ch
Other great sources of information about contemporary art exhibitions are:
http://www.geneve-art-contemporain.ch/
or
http://daté.es/
(but in french only).
Otherwise, try
http://www.ilovegeneva.ch/index.php?lg=2
To be honest, I work for Mamco, the Museum of modern and contemporary
art. I don't want to look like trying to "sell" my business but
actually we have an opening next Tuesday (27.10 6-9 pm). They are very fun,
with a lot of people (usually around 1’000 visitors) so it might be a good
place to investigate the local art scene :-) www.mamco.ch / or
Facebook group:
http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#/event.php?eid=161548426414&index=1
I hope you will enjoy the Geneva art galleries and institutions!

I was yesterday at the Vernissage of the Giacometti exhibition at the Musee Rath.
Very very interesting. I only regret there was no champaing and petit fours...^_^

This time they announce even a whole weekend on the 14th-15th november. See flyer.
http://www.geneve-art-contemporain.ch/misc/memento_pdf.pdf
This could be quite nice since the normal event on thursdays is always very packed.
