Last week, on Feb 14, was launched a new exclusive community for singles only. It even got some coverage on Swiss TV http://www.nouvo.ch/134-1
After subscribing, I was quite surprised about the quality of the profiles and the level of interaction.
Quite a few people from the international Geneva (and Lausanne) have already posted profiles.
People actually get to exchange ideas, organize real life events and meet new people in a relaxed, trustworthy atmosphere.
For those single and with high expectations, you can join AttractiveWorld on
http://www.attractiveworld.net/pages/form.php?p=AW7S8HM
Unfortunately it's in French only yet...
What do you think about the idea of exclusive community site for singles?
Would you join?
Best, BMB

I'd like it because it would maybe mean I have more chance of finding an attractive partner there.
I'd not like it becuase:
i) I feel that if someone puts herself in an 'all attractive people' network, then there's a higher chance that she's a bit arrogant and shallow.
ii) I feel that if I put myself in an 'all attractive people' network, I'm saying to the world that I'm a bit arrogant...
The above 2 are just my personal perception, not saying it's a global truth!
Anyway, seems your site got some good media coverage, and is off to a good start. Good luck on it, hope it works!

The media coverage always focuses on the outside attractiveness, whereas, when reading profiles and mostly following forum discussions, one would find it's fairly high level in terms of content and humor.
So it's also about intellectual attractiveness...
If the rest follows, is it so bad?

Intellectual attractiveness? sounds like marketing speak...(-:
I'd be surprised if many people go to a site focused on 'dating for attractive people' to look for 'intellectual attractiveness'...I don't doubt that many of the physically attractive people are also great on the inside, but atleast for me - 'attractive on the inside' is not what the new dating site is about.
In any case, if you find a nice blonde, attractive outside and outside, pls keep me in mind (note to wife: I jest, I jest!)

And great, if that's what some people are looking for, but what really makes me uncomfortable is attractiveworld (helluva name!) advertising their activities in the Glocals' member activities section.

On the other hand, if some people are a bit shy, new in a place or simply don't have time to hook up in the normal world, why don't they have the right to hook up online? After all it's what one does in every community.
I'm sure you'd be surprised about the lack of segregation on looks and the actual segregation on poor profile content or evidently false pics.
After all, we all try being accepted in one place or another and it's not our choice if we are, but other people's.
No?
@ misskate: if so open, why you mind advertisement of activities enlarging the social options of glocals' members? ;)

Because the "member activities" section is for activities/goings-on that are ostensibly open to all members not just those who have pre-registered for another website. The Events section seems far more appropriate for your posting about fondue, etc...

I removed your post from the Member Activities because it is not a member activity.
Its an advert for a service (in this canse a website) and so belongs in the MarketPlace > Goods & Services section.
This is not about being closed minded, or about judging your site. Its about keeping the Member Activities section focused on member activities.
Thanks, and good luck with the site

Thanks for motivating your choice to ban the add about the Fondue.
Do you apply the rules systematically or make them up along the way, depending on whom you like or dislike?
You should be consistent and delete all postings in the "Member activities" section, forwarding members to other websites for further information and the requested inscription...

I think the problem is not to organise activities per se under "Member Activities".
You know you are being somehow provocative and heavily promoting your business here. I don't see glocals as a platform to do so. Being sarcastic in your replies certainly doesn't help unless you are looking for people to react.... :hehe:
:) All the best

@ iolly: good summary, agree with everyword.
@ togin:
i believe the rules for what to post on the member activities are clear and come up everytime you post a member activities. you decided to break these rules, and now you whine and blame others. nice.
second, not only is your site concept bad, but also the way you related to people (after asking for their feedback) is poor. if i had any intension of joining your site, my intension would go out the window seeing the way you, one of the attractive site owners clearly, treat people. you should take a lesson from siteadmin on how to listen and speak with your members / potential clients.

Now that this is clear, let's make the rest transparent too: I asked for your feedback, shared event info, sys admin finds it's inappropriate: fine. But I also believe one has the right to ask questions: why aren't all postings treated the same way? why other postings get to forward to other sites and are not expelled? The given answer is "there are rules".
I am not against.
I just point out those rules are not applied to all in the same way... Now if this is being sarcastic... It's your call. But we don't have the same definition of that word or it's a cultural issue: Latin vs. Anglo-Saxon . :-)
PS/NB: Indeed, EVENTS should have been the appropriate section to use and, in the future I will make sure that such posting don't lead to other public lash out.
Please, accept apologies from a new glocal member!
