Australian Federal Election

Here's a thread that I hope will be of interest to Australian expats on glocals. I am not entirely sure how many of us are on glocals.

Well the numbers are out, and it all ended in a hang parliament, and now the horse trading between the major parties and the independents is starting. The Greens got a big boost in the Senate this year. This has been an interesting campaign with major firsts like:

- Australia's first Prime Minister in the running

- Online connectivity issues (e.g. National Broadband Network and Internet censorship) have, for the first time, become major issues in a federal election

This is my first time I am out of Australia during a federal election, and I would have liked to have been back home to have closely followed it; especially given how different it was to previous ones.

One thing is certain - the next three years will be interesting indeed given no party has had a convincing win.
