Bats sleeping near by!

Hi!  I have bats lodging above a window and they are impossible to find-even with my glasses on!  Is this a concern for the regie and are they a health hazard?  Any advice welcome?

Thanks,

Claire

that's great. You should tell it to http://www.chauves-souris.ch/ who take care of that kind of information.

I forgot to mention it, but if any of you find dead bats, you can also contact them.

and you live in France, you can also contact some french groups. In both country, bats are under surveillance.

Hello Bertrand,

Thanks for your advice. I will contact the bat site you gave me as I prefer to give them a proper home.

It sounds like they have a proper home and, as I'm sure the Swiss Bat People (I imagine them with masks and capes) will tell you, they can't be disturbed unless they are in danger and they have priority of abode over you and the regie.

I could be wrong; in any case I'd be interested to hear what they say.  I'm also jealous, as I'd love to have resident bats.

Hello Andy,

Yes, they are protected here  and in most countries.  I have contacted the bat society and have had no response-probably all asleep!  So I have to leave them alone and dream I hear squabbles at night and that my roll up parasol above the window is doing a fabulous job!

Claire,

Feel lucky- bats are lovely creatures and no fly insects will be around.

Enjoy the show! Promise-they will not eat you!

I had to deal with 2 dead bats in my garden, a few weeks ago. Sent them to be  checked and got the result today. No problem.

Seems my cat is a really good hunter....
