Need to get a smartphone that in NOT apple. Dislike apple with a vengeance.
Would appreciate any advice of the best/reliable ones.

I like the Samsung Galaxy models. The last one is the S6.
The Archos ones are pretty good too and at a much smaller price than the Galaxy. Note however that you could have a S6 almost for free depending on the subscription you take with a service provider.
Avoid smaller, cheaper phones or those from an unknown manifacturer. Often they're rubbish.

Moto G has excellent value for money. I think they just released the 3rd generation of it.

Hello,
I find Nexus products to be of a very good quality AND value/price ratio. The current model is Nexus 6.
