Shouldn't really, as the website is more or less totally geared to those living in CH and as you know, we live just over the border. But here goes anyway. Have some friends hereabouts who, despite living in France for more than 6 years, have studiously refused to learn anything but basic French. They lean on we long-suffering French-speakers to help them out at the Mairie, The Tax Office etc.
A Swedish friend had an accident and broke his leg: obviously he had to be admitted urgently to the local hospital. Above Brits went to visit him and remarked "feel sorry for ***** becaue the bloke in the next bed doesn't speak any English - we don't want to be in the same position and are now going back to UK". What do they expect? Elderly French people necessarily speaking English to a Swede in hospital just because he happens to be in the next bed. Qite honestly, if that's their attitude don't you all feel they better go back "home" as they have always called it?
