I wouldn't put too much thought into this. Use the TV-buying date.

If yo uput the date back to when you first arrived, then you will for certainy be charged from the date you used it. Billag has to be paid not only for tv services but also for radio and internet services, so im afraid you cant escape it. Itunes is simply software you can download for music , so this is not taken into consideration. Any tv, radio, car radio or internet connection where you can recive a radio or tv signal is considered chargeable by billag. You do not have to provide any proof of purchase of a TV.

actually Billag considers that is you own a smartphone you have to pay...

Maybe if you ask Billag they might be able to help. I dont think internet connection counts for Billag as you pay for it somewhere else, but Im not sure. Still Billag will be able to help you, as someone mentioned, I think the TV buying date should be ok. They are not going to check on you, believe me. Im sure they have enough to do without checking on people. Only when people dont pay then, they sometimes come around and check if you have a TV or Radio.

Believe me Billag do check on you.... please be sure to give the right information when people ask. If you have any form of TV or radio you are liable to Billag. Even if it means you can only get it through the internet you have to pay billag. INternet connection counts as a manner in which you can recieve TV or Radio.

If you dont pay and get caught.. then it can cost you a lot more.

As far as I know you pay for TV and radio yes there you are right. But Internet Connection, I was not aware that Internet connection has something to do with TV or Radio. Oh my. The only form of checking I know of is standing somewhere out and checking if you have a radio or TV, or even coming around. Please let me know of the other form and I will be grateful.

As long as you are not home Mo. to Fr. 08:00 to 5 : 00 pm, you might be able to ignore Billag.  This is a stinky private firm that gets a chunk of the tax it gets on behalf of the government.  The more people they can charge, the better off they are.  They have some little army of civilian dressed people that go ring at every door they can. I think it's the only tax in the country that's collected by a private firm.
