Actually you can get Point 1 in Germany as well. There, the government recently passed a law that exactly allows this kind of "medical treatment" to be done by people who have not studied medicine...

It should not be done at all, for there is no rational reason behind it. Normally, such a thing would carry a multi-year prison term - and it should.

I was, of course, referring to point 1 in Germany ;)

Actually, last year a German court exactly decided that it's illegal to circumcize people without medical reasons. But then a storm of outrage by various religious groups started (We do this already for several thousand years, so we have to continue doing it...) and since the government was afraid of loosing these guys as potential voters, they passed this law :-(

No, actually my post was probably a bit misleading...if an adult person decides to get parts of his body cut off by somebody else, well, then let him have this fun... the court case was rather about children who get circumcized when only a few days old, such that they obviously have no choice for opting out.
