It won't work the way you've set it out - cannot see who has what. I think there are some colons missing.

Also what do you mean by 4 spades + 1? 5 spades?

Hi Chris,

How are you? It's nice to hear about you.

Yes, I have tried to make a table the first time using the Table button.

4 Spades + 1 means that you have announced a contract of 4 Spades ant you make your contract plus an additional trick, giving a total of 11 tricks. 5 Spades means that you have announced 5 Spades.

Hi Amel

I am very well, thank you. You?

Is the contract north-south or east-west? (sorry, not sure of the conventions) Don't think n-s could do it as they would definitely lose more than two tricks. E-w has to contend with the single heart that n has.

Who opens?

I am also very well, thank you.

You're right , I have forgotten some parts of the problem: the contract is East-West, played by West, and North leads with the King of Spade.

And another "small" correction. The contract is 4 Hearts + 1 and not 4 Spades + 1.

So E-W are at least in the right color.

Bah. Well, I started trying to solve it but got distracted and now I'm too tired to go on. We shall have to try it when we next meet.
