Business Week's top 10 best cities to live..
http://finance.yahoo.com/real-estate/article/105235/The-World's-Best-Places-to-Live-2008

I enjoy that is mentions "the best quality of life doesn't necessarily mean the most exciting"

Hi

I had been living for 6 years in Zurich. It is better I have to say. But you know, individually it depends very much on the social network you have where you live. I don't know too many ppl in Geneva, thus it is rather place 98 or 104....

Don't mention Vienna when you talk to Lexi. It is not her favourite spot.... How was Vienna anyway?

Greets

Andrej

PS YouMeCo. Did you go for this hugs-to-riotting-fans thing in the end?

Many Germans are really surprised about Düsseldorf making it into the top ten. Munich, that seems reasonable, but Düsseldorf?

@ and70 - No, i never made it to the drunken-fan-hugging-event, but i have bumped into plenty of fun-loving-glocalers around town and at these public viewing venues:)

That's good enough for me.

@ Lexi - remind me again.. does Vienna have a lake or large body of water (I've been but don't recall seeing one)? you think that could be a big factor for the city not to be as nice as Geneva or Zurich??

YouMeCo

There is no lake in Vienna. Just the Danube. But the city itself is great. If you don't look to much for excitment.

Lexi

I think I have to look up a few things for you if you're going regularly. Just check firdst of all if Kruder and Dorfmeister do some DJing in the near future. Also Richard Trüby and Sven Väth. They are good fun.

I have heard from my Japanese colleagues that Dusseldorf has fantastic sushi and sashimi restaurants -- although I have never been there myself.  I think Hamburg is fantastic, though and liked it much better than Munich or Berlin...

I love Switzerland. Zurich and Geneva are nice towns, and there are many more all over Switzerland. For example, Lausanne/Pully area is amongst my favorites. Outside of Switzerland, there are so many beautiful and interesting places to live. The difference in the quality of life between these places is so subjective. And minor. A lot seems to depend on where we are in our life and what matters.

Here is another list. This one is by Monocle (www.monocle.com). I like some of their selections. Other picks and rankings, I do not understand.

1. Copenhagen

2. Munich

3. Tokyo

4. Zurich (according to Monocle, more relaxed neighbours would put it in first place! looks like.... Glocals has a mission to continue).

5. Helsinki

6. Vienna

7. Stockholm

8. Vancouver

9. Melbourne

10. Paris

[11-21]

22. Singapore

23. Geneva

24. Lisbon
