Buying a new TV - what to get?

This is for the gents out there....

I want to buy a new TV for under 1000 CHF, 81 cm, nice design and preferably low energy consuming, mainly for watching news and movies (from TV channels and from computer) but the most important criteria is excellent image resolution (for movies). Some questions:

1. Is LED really that much better than LCD?

2. Which brand is the best - Samsung?

3. Which shops offer the best prices in Geneva and can you haggle on the price?

Thanks for your help!
