CE certified japanese rice cooker ?

Hello all. Here again technology problems, this time with a bad experience.

Just a few days ago, I bought a Hitachi rice cooker for about 250 dollars (3 cup maxiumum volume) which is indeed expensive.

I didn't know about the european obligatory CE certification standard for all electronic appliances. I was surprised though to find a half-attached sticker for the commands in front, and read "made in Thaïland" (which I guess is rather frequent, but surprising for a Japanese brand).

The place I bought it in is the only I know for buying japanese brands. It wasn't my decision to return it, but with that price, you'd expect a minimum of security standard.

I know there are plenty of normal rice cookers sold in Switzerland. I have one, but it's never done my japanese rice good, even by making all the measures right. That's why I'd like an automated one, from an asian brand which at least has a CE certification and a menu to choose the type of rice used, and a good quality.

Where (except Amazon and ebay, you can't check those details) could I buy a Japanese (or good quality chinese) rice cooker in Switzerland or nearby in France?

Sorry if this seems discriminatory, but I already had a bad experience with a chinese (and CE certified) rice cooker which plastic chipped off into the rice after 1 use only Sealed

I've seen 3-4 models there (J brand). Can't swear they are actually made in Japan though...

It's a great store I often go to and they were very surprised when they found out about the problem. I'm not even sure if what I'm requesting exists... Frown

Have you thought of asking the manager of a local Japanese restaurant?  He or the chef ought to be able to help.

There’s also a Swiss-Japanese Association and maybe one of their members can suggest a suitable retail outlet.

Good luck!

Thank you Ritchie and Casuistik ! I'll first check on Rakuten, and then ask the Cercle Suisse Japon.
