CELTA courses

Unfortunately, thinking I would not need it again, I mistakenly deleted the information sent by a kind member regarding CELTA courses and specifically the fact that it is only this certificate which is valid for teaching in Swiss language schools.

One of the above, informs me that :

The IH-Certificate is FSEA 1 equivalent and therefore is a totally recognised qualification for teaching EFL in Switzerland, it is rated at exactly the same level as the Cambridge CELTA. Those persons who have gained our certificate are currently teaching successfully in schools in Geneva, in other parts of Switzerland and indeed in other countries worldwide.

As the cost is prohibitive [!] before embarking on the course, is what they are telling me correct please? It seems there is some confusion about the various accepted certificates. TIA

I think if IH stands for International House (the ASC school in Geneva) it should be good.  You could also try calling ifage or inlingua or another language school and asking them if they accept the cert if you want an official answer.

You might also want to look into the "certificat de formateur d'adultes" FSEA

http://www.alice.ch/fr/ada/certificat-fsea/

It's a general teacher's certificate.

A lot of the language schools demand this certificate.

Some information from the link mentioned above :

"Le certificat FSEA est devenu un standard de formation reconnu par les institutions de formation continue et les organismes d'Etat. Nombre d'institutions de formation continue, même non certifiées eduQua, exigent en Suisse ce premier niveau de qualification pour leurs formateurs."

Participants do need to be able to read and write French though.

If I'm well informed, schools have to have a certain percentage of certified teachers in order to obtain or keep their eduQua quality certificate :

I may be spamming here, but you might also be interested in the "validation des acquis"

This means obtaining the certificate by writing a report about your experience and skills.

More info is here :

Thanks for this, and also the link about the report for a course waiver.  If all goes well I'll be getting this in a couple of years!
