HI! I am wondering how many US citizens knew that yesterday July 2nd was Caesar Rodney Day? Did you know that if it wasn't for him the the Colonies would not have declared independence from England? He was one of two delegates to Delaware. The other delegate, a Tory was intercepting the messages to Rodney to come to Philadelphia regarding the vote. When Rodney finally got the message he rode on horseback all night in a terrible rainstorm in spite of the fact that he had skin cancer. He made it there in time to cast the tie breaking vote in favor of Independence. Did you know that the Declaration of Independence was actually signed on July 2nd? The fourth was the day that it was read in public for the first time.
Caesar Rodney was the man on the back of the first commemorative Quarter that came out featuring each state.
Happy 4th Everyone.
