Camping laws in Switzerland

Hello! I wonder if it there are legal constraints on camping (with a tent) on forests etc in Switzerland?

Thanks a lot!

Yes, there are many "legal constraints" (probably accompanied by huge fines) around camping with or without a tent.

Check out http://www.myswitzerland.com/en/search/index.cfm?phrase=Camping

It may not answer your question, but will give you some great ideas of places to go.

Enjoy :-)

Basically, it's forbidden, but you may in certain places under certain conditions (stay overnight, no tent, not in protected areas, more that 100m from water) but that varies from canton to canton and even from village to village. The safest way is to ask the locals, farmers in particular, if there is a place where you can stay. For further information there is a brochure of the Swiss Alpine Club Dépliant "Bivouaquer & camper" in French.
