Can you take a 4-yr-old out of school?

Hi. Our daughter will be 4 in May and will start pre-school in August. Would we be able to take her out of school a couple of weeks before Christmas? I know you can't in the UK anymore (well, it's frowned upon) but wasn't sure what the deal is here as school is part-time at that age. Many thanks.

you have to "sound out" the school your daughter is going to... many schools are flexible by a few days due to the transient population here...

A couple of weeks is probably too much though, ...days on the other hand are easier to get permission for. If its a "one off" then probably will be ok... just give a good (as valid as possible) excuse.

If you do it without informing the school and having a proper doctors note (in the event of a "sickness")... you will be written to and investigated by the local school authorities...who dont miss a trick.
