Car insurance - what are the mandatory terms for the leasing contract ?

Any can one advise what really are the mandatory items for a leasing car insurance?

I tried at COMPARIS.CH but after getting the offer the comments from each insurer are different in terms of the 'mandtory items for leasing contract'.

I here have:

1)prime responsabilite civile apres prise en compte du degree...casco complete

2)prime casco complete apres prise en compte du degre...

3)taxes legales(?)

4)protection juridique?

are there anything else mandatory?

Thanks for the help!

responsabilité civile = civil liability is mandatory by the law to drive a car in Switzerland.

Casco complete (full cover of the car) is asked by people giving you the leasing.

"protection du bonus" is what you pay to make sure you won't pay more if you get one accident.

Legal insurance also isn't mandatory.

Thanks a lot Remy

So in my case if I have leasing contract, only responsabilitie civile & casco complete is mandatory?

regarding the "protection du bonus", if by mistake I have signed the contract (though it is not on the same page), is there anyway to reject the payment?

Have a nice evening.

By the law, if you receive the policy in the 14 days following signing the proposal, you can't do anything about it.

However, keep in mind that things that are not mandatory can be useful. Actually, it's usually the people the most worried about having a low premium that should have "protection du bonus". If you want to have a low premium, are you ready to accept (and pay) if your premium because goes from 1000chf to 1400chf a year because you had an accident the previous year?

Another very important cover, also not mandatory (but I think like 98% of my clients have it) is "faute grave", a cover agaisnt the "big mistakes" you could do. If by exemple you've an accident after forgetting to stop your car at a "stop" sign, something that could happen to nearly anyone, you might have to pay a part of what the accident cost, because you did something agaist the laws of driving.

Hi,

the legal tax is a federal tax, this one is mandatory, but do not get confused with the "legal protection insurance" wich is another thing.

For the mandatory taxes, you will mostly find 3 of those on your contract

Art 76 LCR taxes, accident prevention, and federal tax.

Normally those are mentionned on your insurance contract, but be carefull when comparing companies, some avoid mentionning those as it is mandatory, and it helps them show better prices, so you may be surprised when you receive the final documents.

Thank you very much Aymeric. However I do not see in my proposition 'Art 76 LCR taxes, accident prevention, and federal tax.' Anything wrong?

By the way, what is the French for 'the "legal protection insurance"', it is then not mandatory?

Thanks again.

Hi,

some companies send offers without the mandatory taxes mentionned to show a better price when comparing.

So when subscribing, you have a bad surprise when receiving the bill you discover that the taxes have been included and that the proposal you signed for may not be as interesting as it seemed...

federal tax would be "Droit de timbre",

but there is also "contributions à la prévention routière" and "taxes selon Art 76a LCR" .
