Car mechanic - Garage - Battery 'Load Testing'

A bit random - but I want to 'Load Test' my car battery without the long wait and expense of booking in to my dealer garage (Porsche) -

Does anyone know of a good 'drop-in' type garage, preferably with a friendly English speaking chap, that you have had a pleasant experience with, who would be able to do this quick 20 minute, 'while you wait' job?

One of these things you could easy accomplish anywhere else in the world... but I can just see this being a wild goose chase without any good recommendations.

Thanks

ps.. Cayenne with a serious battery related issue should an expert on this subject happen to be reading!!

Garagepitstop.ch

One in Paquis where the boss usually works, speaks better english than me, but I'm scottish :)

One in vernier too but i've never been there.  Seen all sorts of car there from fiesta to astons .. and even the little tourist train.

Thanks guys. Two recommendations out of two for the same garage... that's good enough for me. Will post an update after visiting...

Really appreciated.

Make sure that they check your regulator, rectifier and alternator; not just the battery.  Once you know the source of whatever issues you are seeing you should get a new battery anyway.  Generally speaking: if you think you might need a new battery you usually do.

Thanks Andy - yes, very valid points.  I might actually just take it into the Porsche garage and drop my trousers!  I think if I attempt a short-cut, I'll run up a big bill for half a job, and then end up having to have some sort of porsche-only gadget wired up to test it anyway... and face the full wrath of their hourly rates!  Which is the killer - they keep the clock going over their long lunches I'm sure... 11 hours I got billed last time just to fix a shitty little wire on the alarm system...("allore... we had to dooo a full in-spec-see-on of ze whole seeestemm...")  Tossers!  Anyway... wrong forum for that rant!!

I think you're right - it's probably more cost-effective in the end to go to the Porsche Main Robber.  At least it will be fixed properly and it will help with resale value.

You can obtain inexpensive third-party plug-in diagnistic gadgets for most german cars and these are backed up by experienced people on-line who can interpret the output codes for you.  It might be worth the 100 quid even if only to double-check what the dealer is doing.
