Of course it means "seize the day". But I note that a large number of glocals use the term or homogenous expressions about life being short, etc., etc.
I just want to hear some explanations about WHY we should seize the day, how we are meant to seize it and what would we be doing otherwise?
Does seize the day mean:
Take your time
Move your arse
Break all the rules
Enjoy the weather
Tell everyone you love them
Loot the local jewelers if there is Christophe Blocher comes to town and there is a riot
Engage in unsafe sex with strangers
Open a vomitorium
Waste all the natural resources (apres moi, la deluge)
Quit your job and travel the world
Learn to belly-dance
Try extreme sports
Your turn! What does Carpe Diem mean to you?

As I have just recently recovered my driver's license following a 6 month ban (don't speed people!!! or at least not twice in a 5 year period...)for me carpe diem means taking advantage of all the activities that I need a car to get to...from mountain climbing to horse riding to just simply putting the top down and driving (slowly!) along the lake road enjoying the view...

To extend the full expression from it's original "Sieze the day, trusting little in the future", gives rise to any from of hedonistic tendences, which I'm sure we all would enjoy, without worrying about the consequences.
But for me it's to spend time with people who will not be here forever or will not be able to do the same things tomorrow what they did today. I took my parents on holiday with my family a few years ago and we did at lot of activities during that 3 week vacation, but 6 months following that my father had a stroke and is no longer able to do a lot of the things he did before, I'm glad we siezed the day and didn't think to delay the holiday.

Seize the day simply means that contrary to popular belief, there is no guarantee of a tomorrow for anyone.
That's something you usually learn the hard way.

It's interesting that 'carpe diem' is the most used headline on glocals. How many carp fish could there be around here?

not to be afraid about doing things that would normally stress you, things that really are silly in the scheme of things but that you get so worked up about.
and don't worry about stuff so much... ;)

So is it:
"Eat, Drink and Be Merry" or is it:
Let me leave behind a better world than the one I entered.
