Cat transport needed from NYC / Newark to CH ( Gva or Zh) or Paris

Hi all!

Am looking for someone who would be willing to take my cat in  cabin with them on a flight from NYC to Switzerland, or Paris.

I have 3 and can only have 2 on boardwhen I travel. As cargo transport is very stressful for kitties, wonder if any pet lover would help me .

Cat is microchipped in my name ( rescued from Death Row in a US Shelter) , UTD with shots , medical , rabies shot and all the docs required to bring into Switzerland. Or Europe. All expenses are being taken careof by me. It s simply a matter of taking the carrier and bringing her onboard.

If anyone that s been through the process already can help with suggestions, I d be very thankful.

They will have to give it a Cat Scan at the airport.

i think it will be hard finding someone who will help you with this - fingers crossed for you.

if nothing works out - we've used this company to move our cat down to Dubai, and move him back. They are not cheap, but they took really good care of him and didn't seem to be too stressed when we got him back.

Hi Martin,

thank you very much for your info. I already had contacted another relocation service in the US, but it seems pets travel cargo with these companies, and this is just what I was trying to avoid.

i know of a service within some European Countries which is called Flying Godfather/Godmother,

passengers boarding a flight and that are willing to do so, take a pet on board with them. It is not amajor problem , as all the paperwor and medical are in order, and they are microchipped. Controls at  airports are quick and  by trained staff, they simply check the Pet s  passport, medcial certificates and ID ( by scanning its microchip) .

Unfortunately  cargo travelling can be very dangerous in some cases. A friend who is a stewardess toldme she would not travel with any of her pets in cargo, and I heard of cases where the journey was fatal to the dogs involved.

I do hope to find some pet lover  flying back to Switzerland or France willing to help.

From what I know, your cat and her catmobile - altogether - must not weight more than 5 kg to be taken into the cabin.

Good luck in finding someone, might not be that difficult as there are many cat lovers out there.

Thank you, Nadia for taking the time to reply. I have all the details and documentation. It is slightly differrent from  one airline to the other, some accept up to 7 kg. And it s not the case anyway for this kitty.

Should you have any idea or know of anyone, pse let me know.

i rescued this cat from Death Row, she would have been killed the next day...now it s a matter of taking her safely home..Smile

certainly hope acat lover out therewill help.  This happens in other European countries and really is no big deal, as allwillbe ready at the time of the flight.it only takes a good heart...

Hi Richard, yes, I DID realize it was a joke! But am not sure all would...and since I didnt want any potential " Flight Godfather"to  be put off by the possibility of something as weird as a CT scan ( you never know these days, esp if a terrorist read your reply and made good use of it, LOL) I answered accordingly.

I certainly hope no poor kitty will ever be used the way dolphins are for military purposes...
