Changing tv language to English

Hello everyone. I recently moved to Geneva. I connected my tv to a socket in the wall and I am able to receive channels like SR1, RTL, TVe, France 1,2,3, Eurosport, etc. To my horror, there is nothing in English except Eurosport. I see some of my favourite programmes, but all in French or German.

So I did some research and was informed that there is a button on the remote that changes the programme language depending on whether the programme is broadcast in dual language. I found the button on my remote and last night I waited for the show (criminal minds on TS1) that was supposedly (according to tv guide) to be dual language broadcast. Pressing the I-II button on my remote as I was adivsed only displayed a mono/stereo signal on the tv but the language did not change. So I am stuck and can not watch any tv. Then I tried everything else, referring to the manual, rescanning the channels, but nothing worked.

Is there anyone out there who can help?????? Please, I am getting desperate now.

the I II button is the correct button, however, if the show is really not broadcast in dual languages, nothing will change. try it on some of the other swiss channels to be sure.

Thank you all for your comments. This dual language does not work on my tv. Last night I tried all programmes that were broadcast in dual language on all those channels you mentioned but nothing happened. So I am stuck

Hi!

Let me share my two cents, hoping it might help...

I have a Swisscom box, and in my TV I need to press the *blue* button (one of the colorful Teletext buttons) on the Swisscom remote to get to the "language" menu.

I then choose "second channel" if this option exists (mostly in English speaking shows on Swiss channels) and I can hear the programs in English.

This is probably only correct for Swisscom, though.

Good luck!

I have tried everything I can think of. I did locate the button on my remote, but nothing happens. My tv is samsung cw-28d83n. I have the manual and referred to it as well. Or perhaps it's too advanced for me.

I am hoping you can help.

Justdoit, thank you very mcuh for your effort. Yes, that is the correct manual and the controller. I have followed those instructions without success. Unless ,I am doing something wrong.

how are you connected to the tv network.? via a cable box, or via a wall connector? if via a cable box, then you need to switch to dual on that remote control and not the tv remote.
