Child Minding - Rules etc

I think I saw this discussion before but my searching skills are rubbish today!

My wife is toying with the idea of doing some semi formal child minding, like a mini nursary at home. She's experienced with our own kids only.

Is this a non starter due to regulations? What sort of formalities would be required to make it at least not completely ileagal?

I guess that revenue would be low but could still affect my tax if declared and she'd maybe need to register with AVS etc?

Basis seems to be:

http://www.admin.ch/opc/de/classified-compilation/19770243/index.html

(also available in Italian and French)

Not from personal experience, but what I read in the press and what I have heard from a not too close friend, bureaucratic nightmare could be a valid description.

Have also some good information.

Cheers Alan .. Some good reading!

Looks like a Tagesfamilien could be the thing she's thinking about.. Looks least formal.

It actually seems a lot more formal than i thought reading through it.. If you want to be a maman de jour -- or accueil familial de jour as it's now called, you have to pretty much do the training, register and the local authorities will match you up with children to look after.

I think the wife was more looking to 'advertise' amongst a smaller group and/or be able to choose and have a bit more control over things like number of days/hours/lunches/activities etc .. All seems pretty fixed if becoming a proper accueil familial de jour ..

hmmm

http://www.proju.ch/?rubrique=0000000028  - now BIPE (Bureau d’information petite enfance) and for Geneva area.

there are some contact numbers here and an information séance which will explain how/ what/ etc. in french of course.

Once your wife has been accepted  (agréer par l'état) i don't think there's anything to stop her going it alone.

when advertising it's always better to be able write "government registered"
