I'm moving back to the states and I want to get rid of some of my stuff. I have a whole bunch of clothes that don't fit me anymore (thank you, swiss chocolate) and I want to find a place where I can sell them. A lot of my dresses I've only worn once. Does anyone know of a consignment shop that buys clothes? Thanks in advance!

There's a place called Hazard (34 Rue De Monthoux) which buys women's clothes. I think you need to make an appointment first over the phone, and they only accept fancy shmancy designer stuff.
Otherwise, just put stuff you are willing to donate into a bag and toss it in one of the donation bins (they are usually yellow and near the recycling stations).

Not sure if my reply is too late. I've just discovered L'Armoire à 2 portes in Carouge on the corner of Rue Saint Victor at number 15. The women working there was very nice and they have a wonderful selection. Hope that helps? If not look on the web under "depot-vente" for other options.

There’s a shop in rue de la Mairie near the corner with rue des Eaux-Vives. There’s also another more upmarket one two doors along from the San Remo café on place des Eaux-Vives.
Sorry, but I can’t remember their names.

One in Rolle, sorry don't know the name. Women's consignment clothing. Second street on the right when heading to the train station. Can park directly outside. Also, one in Vevey in the old town. She takes only high end designer labels in great condition, is friendly and open on Saturdays. Again, don't know the name...I found it on a nice stroll.
Good luck

A quick update - Hazard doesn't require appointments, but it's better to go during less busy times. They're open till 6:30 daily and on Saturdays. The hour for depot on Saturdays is 1000-1300. They'll take Gap, Banana Republic, Calvin Klein, etc., as well as European brands and occasionally others. Shoes don't seem to sell very well, and they're often relatively well stocked with jeans. You leave things there for only 2 weeks, then either pick them up on that day or lose them to the end-of-season sale.
In Plainpalais, there's a place around the corner from Barrios Latino (kitty corner from the Red Cross shop that accepts donations) called (I think) Fringantes, but they have very specific depot hours during the week and only take 5 items at a time.
P.S. What size? :)
