I need to organize my contacts !!!
Can you advise me on a simple and preferably free CRM (Contact-Relatinship-Mgmt) tool which:
- works on- and off-line
- can be imported/exported to/from an excel file
- stocks basic info: names, phones, mails, addresses, etc. + allows to add other/ customized criteria (country, language, type of contact, common interests, etc.)
- allows to add follow up notes after call / e-mail, meeting, etc
- ... and other important functions which I might miss

Ai Ai Ai...the pleasure of finding a good CRM tool...what a nightmare! I searched and searched and couldn't find one that was simple enogh for when i needed. But here's the key ones I looked at:
1. The leader out there is www.salesForce.com, and they can be as cheap as CHF 10 per month.
2. www.highrisehe.com is another leading one, and they sell themselves as simple. Free version available. But still too complex for me.
So I don't have a good answer for you, but check out those 2.

A free solution I know of is SugarCRM but I think it would be much more than what you need.
A good alternative can be Google Spreadsheet combiner with google Calendar for follow up reminders - it seems like all you might need !

That's good advice. For me, sugarCRM / SalesForce etc were too much, and Google Docs etc were too little. When someone launches something in the middle, he'll get my money...(-:

What about getting info from Biz Cards into the address book? I have piles of those and can't picture myself typing the data manually.
I heard about scanning iPhone Apps but I don't have a iPhone. Are there any other good cost effective solutions ?

Get a student to sit down and do it for you. It'll cost you CHF 20-30 / hour. If you need a good student to do it for you, lemme know.
