Cows coming down the mountain

I heard loads of nice things about this so im going this Saturday. Anyone has been before and has anything to share?

In particular im going here:

http://www.myswitzerland.com/en/event_calendar/event_display_int.cfm?event_id=1795793

Im guessing cows will pass first though Charmey first and then Albeuve?

Logically you are correct because Charmey is higher than the other village but looking at the map I think these are two different events as the two villages are about 12 km apart and to get from Charmey to Albeuve the cows would have to drop down to the junction near Gruyere and then climb back up 250 metres (height difference).   Unless you have found another Albeuve closer to Charmey.  Let me know if you have. The Albeuve I have found is on the railway line near Montbovon going towards Bulle.  Charmey is a nice village with baths. Have driven through the other one and not noticed it which means it might be a little less touristy (only the office de tourisme can tell you.  They are still in the French speaking part of Fribourg (just)

Thanks for the reply. But after careful consideration (looking at the train times!) we will go to the Crans Montana instead. We have to leave Geneva at 9 not at 7! Two extra hours of sleep :)

If you want, you can go to Annecy Saturday, 9th October, for the "retour des alpages". It's really nice and you can see traditional costumes, alphorn players and a lot of animals (cows, geese, etc.). I have seen it already twice and liked it pretty much.
