Hi Lexi,
I am interested in writing too and actually contacted an American writer who has published a few novels in French and who lives in Lausanne.
I asked her if she would like to hold some workshops in English with the Glocals Anglophone crowd and she said she would be happy to.
The workshop would consist in about 6 sessions of 3 hours each on a Saturday or Sunday. It would cost between 325 and 350 CHF.
We need a group of 6 people to start. Then we'll define the dates. I told her it would be my job to find a room in Lausanne...
Would you be interested?
Cheers
Izzie

Hi Lizzie! Yeah I would deffinitely be interested! :) What kind of novels has she published so far? I would have a few questions to ask, mostly to you happen to know what are usually the steps to take when you want to translate an English book into another language (provided the author gave you his/her OK)?
Cheers!

Hi Lexi,
You will find all Mary Anna's work on her website:
http://www.maryanna-barbey.com/
Regarding the translation, I am not sure what you mean. I am not in the translation business. If you want to translate a book just as a practice, I guess you can just do it. Might be worth checking with a professional translator.
I will keep you posted in the writing workshop.
Anyone else interested?
Izzie

Hi... you might want to contact someone from the University of Geneva's Translation School. They would probably know how to go about this and perhaps this could end up being a project for a very talented student...

Thank you Lizzie and Translator!
You could also inquire at Geneva's Association of Interpreters and Translators, many of whom are Geneva Univwersity graduates.
Sorry, I don'0t have their website details to hand but you'll find it by goggling.

Maybe we can start our own group for creative writing? And share our creations and give each other feedback?

I'd be interested in the creative writing groups... would prefer just meeting up and sharing ideas!

I would also be interested in joining a creative writing group. I've been in groups before where we met once a week or once a month to share our writing. Also been to a writing salon where a facilitator gave us prompts to work on. Both were great!

I have set up a group for this purpose, we have a few members already and I think we will have our first meeting in January, but I see that you are from Lousanne and this group would be Geneva based. Still interested?
