Criminal Report for Permit B

Has anyone (non-EU) recently been through the process of getting their Permit B?  After waiting months and being told it was in progress, my husband just got a letter saying that they need a criminal report for me.  Anyone know how/where to do this in Switzerland (preferably in or close to Geneva)?

Thanks for your time and any responses!

Hi ,

you can get the criminal report from the post office or you can order online  . its called "extrait du casier judicaire " . here is the link to order online,  normally it takes around 6-7 days and they will send to your address .  https://www.bj.admin.ch//bj/fr/home/dokumentation/medieninformationen/2007/2007-03-26.html

Thanks for your response.  Unfortunately, it needs to be from the US.

Hi ,

thats it ,, so  now its much easier .. normaly if i have some external issues i consult with my consulate . so they can give the reference about how it should be prepared , and from which state etc.

so you can make it simply by  going  through U.S cosulate in  Switzerland and make a request for the police clreance certificate   .  easy as ABC

Cheers and good Luck ..

Criminal report is a standard document that most of the countries need. The best bet would be to get a certificate issued from the police before you leave any country. I learned this a hard way but could manage by going to the local consulate of the country where I stayed before moving to Switzerland. You may try doing that.
