Garnier Frutis has anti-dandruff shampoo. I use head n shoulders but my sis says, its good.

if u have used all these already, i am quite doubtful if garnier can help. u might want to give it a try. otherwise next stop is... dermatologist ! :-(

For how long did you try each of these shampoos? In my experience the "commercial" anti-dandruff shampoos are not worth much. I had quite a good experience with Squa-Med from the pharmacy, but used it regularly for several months.

I agree that it might be a good idea to see a dermatologist. At HUG they have consultations without rendez-vous on certain days at the dermatology clinic, just show up and take a number. I guess you can find the days and hours on the HUG website.

It might be worth asking advice from your hairdresser.  Dandruff can also start appearing if you are tired and stressed.  Or you might be using a shampoo that is too strong (say too dry for your hair, if so your body would produce more "grease" to help your body cope).  We often use products that are not obviously adapted to our body without realising it.

I am not a specialist but you could try making your own shampoo using eggs and other natural products (I guess you can find recipes on the internet).  Alternatively, Kerastase produces good various types of shampoos (but ask advice from your hairdresser).  Remember you should not use too much shampoo when washing your hair (kind of peanut size quantity should suffice and add a bit of water if necessary!).  It is worth paying more money for a good quality shampoo and use less of it than paying less money for a product that doe not suit you :).  I buy only 2 bottles of shampoo (250ml) per year :) so even if it is expensive, it is still worth it!

Good luck!

Mix one egg with 4-5 tablespoons of yoghurt and squeeze 1 mid size lemon. Leave this on your head for 15-20 minutes. Do it as often as you want to (daily, alternate days, depends on you..). Your dandruff should go away. I personally believe in using natural methods over cosmetic products or visiting doctors... Goodluck..

I might try this recipe :), I recently got told that we shouldn't rinse our hair with hot water unless we want to order an omelette...?

i absolutey swear by the Kerastase 'specifique' range.. A french range found in many salons. Its a white bottle with a grey lid. Theres a shampoo and a treatment. I use this whenever my scalp goes dry to a change in weather or hardness in water... and it works immediately.. Its more expensive than the commercial brands but one bottle lasts me 4 - 5 months. I promise you it will work.

I'm on a shampoo from the organic-shop (on rosemary-basis), mostly.

Don't remember the brand, can provide the details if you're interested.

I once talked about this with a woman hairdresser and she admitted having suffered from dandruff herself.

She got rid of it by cutting her fairly long (but then totally ruined) hair and applying olive-oil to it basically every day (or every other day).

It was apparently an absolutely horrible mess beyond imagination - but it helped. She really had beautiful hair (after some weeks...)

Even knowing you're female, I'd seriously think about cutting your hair to 9mm or even less (you can always wear a base-cap...), and settle for a shampoo from the organic store.

You should only apply a small qantity per shower and only gently massage your head (don't try to scratch the dandruff off).

Your skin is totally irritated - it has to rebuild its natural acid- and lipid-level.

Cutting the hair will allow the skin on the head to "breathe" better.
