Hello! My husband and I are new to Geneva, and I am having my first baby in June. My doctor delivers at either Clinique Beaulieu or Clinique des Grangettes. Does anyone have any opinions on which one is better for maternity unit and midwives? I also prefer to speak in English if possible, although my French is coming along. Also, any recommendations for pediatricians, preferably in the Plainpalais area (although not necessary) and also preferably who speak some English, too? Thank you so much!

Hi Ashleigh,
Welcome to Geneva :-)
I don't know much about Grangettes but I heard very good things about Clinique Beaulieu from several friends who gave birth there.
Apparently the rooms are super nice and the staff is very professional & accomodating.
I hope you get some replies from people that have experienced it themselves.
Good luck!
Oded

Both of the clinics have very good reputations but Beaulieu is geographically closer to Plainpalais than Grangettes.
And I’m sure your doctor will be happy to recommend a pediatrician.
It is rare for a Swiss doctor not to know any English and the specialists all do for sure in order to keep abreast of the latest developoments in their field. Most senior nurses have a fair level of English and even more junior staff often have the basics.
Also, check out the Moms Groups on glocals. You’ll find lots of support and ideas from other members there.
Best wishes, R.

Grangettes is amazing. It is newly renovated, the rooms are guaranteed as private (even if you have semi-private insurance), meaning you have one bed per room. We were just there for a birth and had about ~50m2 private room with a huge bathroom, round the clock care and 5 star service from everybody, not to mention free parking during our stay, free products and what felt like a michelin star restaurant. the room also had mini bar, coffee machine, view of trees and a couch (where the husband can sleep).
We visited Beaulieu before deciding and the staff were nice, but the rooms were smaller and ambiance a bit more "closed."

I delivered at Grangettes twice and had great experiences both times. The staff were very kind and professional. I've heard the rooms at Grangettes are more open and airy while Beaulieu has more delivery options include water birth.
