Are you sure this guy comes from the same Republican party as George W. ? . . . .  . . to the point he's more left than a socialist.

However, "democracy" has little to do with economics . . .  would somebody please buy America a dictionary !

In all fairness, that politician is widely recognized as simply attempting to raise money for yet another failed and useless presidential campaign (biased, me? No way).

Plus that web-site is clearly meant to cater to such B-grade politicians. Nevertheless, the ability to articulate one's (admittedly here, uneducated and off the mark) views is part of the democratic process.

personally, I wish Jon Stewart would run for office.

Kucinich is I beleive a Democrat.  I have read much criticism of him but what do you think of what he is saying (believing?)?

You work in the economy so that is part of life and the decisions we make about such a life (economy included) is thus part of democracy ne'est-ce pas? Or do you believe we have no democratic decision making rights as to how the economy is run?

sorry folks, the caption read "Rep . . .  Doodah" which I took to mean Republican when in fact in smaller print was D-Ohio  (is "D" for dummy, dickhead or duuuhhhh ?)

Anyway,  "Democracy is a legislative system in which all citizens exercise direct and equal participation in the development, proposal and passage of legislation into law. The term comes from the Greek: δημοκρατία – (dēmokratía) "rule of the people . . . "

So, what was your question ?

sorry my learned friend i have to disagree

i love boston and the great spirit of the people there to speak up

and be heard but though i definitely support women^s right to choose

i wish there was more said in supporting sex education and also

offering alternatives

I am so glad i never had to make such a choice but i do feel that abortion

is never a happy choice and wish that it could be prevented

of course never ever not allowed but still i know also of cases where women

had trouble conceiving later and also had very deep emotional issues

it is not a simple matter, the choice should be given without a doubt but i would like to see all those great positive energies go to supporting information and prevention of unwanted pregnancies

it can happen by chance but i do think that a lot of cases come from lack

of awareness and feel that abortion is not that simple matter

nothing to shout about in the street but something to discuss discreetly

and consider consequences

just my two cents worth

maybe you can find a better exemple for demoncracy?

like speaking up on foreign policy issue

how much influence does the average american have on the system to influence the foreign affairs policies?

"...'democracy' has little to do with economics..." That's correct, in bizarro world it doesn't.

There is a tremendous amount of research that proves just the opposite. A dictionary definition is one thing, reality is another.

Here is just one example:   http://www.mysmu.edu/faculty/flhuang/paper/HuangFali2009-8-11.pdf

Governments in all forms of democracies develop policies and practices that distribute national resources.  The most powerful Congressional delegations get the most money and resources allocated to their states and districts.

Government decisions regarding infrastructure and basic science research are two key areas.  Another area involves tax benefits, including incentives and cuts.

Many lobbyists in all the capitals in every "democracy" around the world are there for the money, some others are there to ensure that governments direct resources to the less fortunate.

In the real world, the two are inextricably linked, and not only in America but in Canada as well.
