Dentist experience in Geneva - Before buying the insurance..Any common experience?

My insurance company asked me to go to the dentist to have a form filled and two pictures of the teeth taken, before they agree to take my dental insurance.

Unfortunately i have to go to the Dentist today for the pain of growing wisdom teeth. So the 20 mintues treatement ( urgent one) ended up by a bill of 130CHF, and a precription of medicines which I spent 60 CHF for a week's doce.

Anyone has the same experience? I guess it is quite normal then? Can I still take the insurance and what shall I do?

Thanks!

Welcome to Switzerland. Actually a bill of 130 CHF for a dentist is very decent...

Have a good look at the conditions of your dental insurance before you take it. Usually dental insurance is not worth the money here, except for kids. Unless you take a very expensive insurance, they very often will not cover everything or only up to a certain amount, so you might end up paying more for your insurance than for the occasional dental treatment. It's worth doing a bit of maths before signing anything...

Even my own health insurance advised me against it when I inquired about the prices!

I also need to go a dentist urgently and was wondering how your experience was? Would you recommend this dentist? Was the dentist English speaking? If so, please could you give me the contact details of this dentist. Thanks, Sreyashi.
