Digging my hole of ignorance a little deeper ... Spin off on the 'age discrimination' on glocals topic.
spin off  the housing ad discussion. Let's keep things in perspective here. Racism is to be condammend, in whichever forms it occurs. My stance on the topic was openly polemic in the other thread, and more a sort of 'provocation' , but now i think we are mixing 'capre e cavoli' (goats with lettuce) like we say in italian.

Just so that people will not misunderstand or just misinterpret what I will say after:Age discrimination is as bad as any other form of discrimination, and that's why unless companies can prove that certain qualities or features are required for a certain job (e.g. lingerie model just to name one), they are not allowed to discriminate base on age, sex etc etc.

Glocals is a public service, free of charge, for people to meet friends and people they can share interest with. It's about helping people organizing their social life, not Providing them a social life (see the big difference - helping vs providing). I firmly beleive that when it comes to activities organized on glocals, people can be as selective as they want, given that they will stay in the boundaries of respect for the other person (so insulting other people, or people 'excluded' by certain activities is NOT an option), because the aim of this site is to help people finding like-minded people they can become friends with.

Mums to be will organize events for mums to be, Youngsters will organize events for youngsters, singles for singles etc, if that's the kind of company they are looking for. And just to give a practical example to explain what I mean ... while I would definetly complan if I don't get an office job becuase I am considered not pretty enough or am from the wrong country, I would not complain or feel excluded if someone organizes an events on glocals for Germans only, for moms only, for christian people to discuss religion ..  or for people 19-25 only. As the risk of being repetitive (being concise is not my main virtue) ...  The role of my job is to provide for my means. The role of glocals is to give me platform where to meet other people.

So people please, put things in perspective. If you feel excluded by certain events, STOP complaining about how glocals is unfair and mean, and organize your own event, open to all ages. I am sure you'll find enough people interested in coming. This is what glocals is here for. Giving you the opportunity to organize whatever YOU like if what's on offer doesn't suit you.

On the broader topic of what there's an age limit: we have discussed this till everyone was bored to death some years ago already, so please do a search in the forums. But just a quick example to summarize it:in marketing language it's called targeting. Glocals has a target audience and it has been decided that 23 somehow was the lower age range of people in that target. Sure there are exceptions, and as you noticed no one checks date of births or papers here, so if you are a 21yo interested in glocals, i am sure that site admin would allow you to join.

Let's keep things in perspective and as my mom (very wise chinese woman) used to say:

A caval donato non si guarda in bocca (italian proverb)

and ... 'if you don't like something stop whining and do it yourself' (free translation of a chinese proverb).

Maybe I dug my hole even deeper and am sure that this post is not perfect, and there's tons of loophole in what i wrote. I still hope that most people will go for the meaning of the post.

Vale

very well said.

and personally, i enjoy meeting people in my own age range, unless its for business networking. and especially if i'm asked to pay for an event, i would only do it if i knew that most people there will be in my age range. if i go to an event where the purpose is meeting new friends, and most people there are way older or way younger then me, i'm less interested. you can call it discrimination, i call it human nature.

Guys,

I deleted Juiceman's comments (and all answers to his comments), cos in my view they didn't belong here and were way off topic.

I also locked this thread (so no posts on it are possible) just for now, until things cool off. I will unlock it tomorrow.
