You need to be registered in the new canton (new permit or at least a paper from the new canton permit people) to get the new drivers permit.

good luck in zurich.it´s a really nice city. i used to live there. all movies are in VO, and the old town is like a carnival every night from spring thru summer.

in fact, i think you only need to inform the strassenverkehrsamt in zurich of your change of address. if you have the new swiss "credit-card" type of driver's license. as this is now in 4 languages and country wide. as the address no longer appears on the card, you only need to inform them via the web site. however, you will need to change your plates for ZH plates.

Hi Epicure. I stand corrected. As you say, if she has the new credit card size drivers license rather than the old blue paper one she will just need to advise the Zurich authorities of the new address.

She can't have the old blue one. She arrived just last year (when the credit card type had been the norm for at least 5 years already).
