Thank you,

There are also some bins where to put used clothes. I've used the one in Servette area and I've seen another one in Eaux Vives.

Hello John ,
You won't be that rich... You might allow your wife to buy a lot of clothes.
I'll explain =)
For each bag, they give you 5 CHF to be deducted from your next purchase at H&M - valid until 31.12.2012 =) . Minimum purchase 30 CHF. Maximum 2*5 CHF for a minimum purchase of 60 CHF. You can't bring more than 2 bags per day per person... Ok guys, you know everything!

You could also try Ricardo. There is a section for CHF1.-- for which there are various sub-sections, dresses, two-pieces, blouses, skirts etc. but of course you have to be willing to parcel them up and take them to the post office.....

There are at least five such bins in Eaux-Vives. Other districts have similar containers.

If you want to give clothing of any kind that is in good condition, here are the names of a few organizations which will be happy to receive your donations:
Armée du Salut
Caritas
Centre social protestant
La Croix rouge genevoise (“Vet” shops)
Women’s Shelter, Les Grottes
There are also several “boutiques” that buy and sell second-hand (“deuxième main”) goods.
All the best, R.
