Oh I am so utterly fed-up with the weather - me and thousands of others no doubt.
This has been the wettest, cloudiest, foggiest most dismal winter since we have lived here. Reminds us of Belgium!!!

Oh, Sheila, just spare a thought for your compatriots in the UK. Weather-wise, it’s Eldorado here compared with what’s happening there – and elsewhere.

@Ritchie
Yes, certainly a valid point and when Royalty becomes involved, then it is obviously very serious.
But "Eldorado"? Not really, our garden is waterlogged and we live on a slope!

@Sheila
It’s not been that wet in Gva until today so am sorry to hear of your woes and hope the garden will soon dry out.
Also appreciated your remark concerning a certain tour of inspection in Somerset.
Take care, R.

Sure, lots of sunshine in the evening
Btw: There is night skiing in St. Cergue (followed by cheese fondue), Tuesday to Saturday, from 6 pm to 9.30 pm.
Or put your frontal light on:

@Sheila C: why not join one of the many snow-shoeing events instead of making comments about the weather!

It is known that Geneva has a terrible winter as the clouds bank up at the Fort l'Ecluse. You do not even have to go to the mountains - just go to Nyon and there will be sunshine. But from reading the posts it appears you are not an outdoor person and so I can only suggest you stay at home and draw the curtains.
You can compare Geneva to Belgium but you cannot compare Switzerland and surrounding France to Belgium with regard to the weather.

Why not post a photo to your profile instead of opting to have a fat brown chicken as a profile photo-but then again everyone has different tastes.

Well Sheila, in this thread you are complaining about both Belgium & Switzerland. In a different thread you expressed your strong dislike of Australia(ns).
Umm, anywhere else you would like to complain about??

I can't believe there is a thread on here about the weather..........or that I am even looking at it !!!!
Like jeffrey above, I prefer this a zillion times to the freezing cold of previous years with snow at the roadside for days , making me feel like I was walking around in a fridge. Or icy winds that almost make your ears drop off.
AND we have had much more sun than last winter - which was pretty low on sunlight for townies who don't get into the mountains
So let's hear it for this winter of 2014 in Switzerland!
( but, Sheila, I can understand that a waterlogged garden is no fun
)

It's gorgeous out! Last year was by far much worse than this year.
Just think: It's almost over and Feb maybe the worst month, but it's also the shortest. :)

So, who's gonna complain about bad weather now when we see that some areas have FAR worse problems , like alien invasion( as in the photo kindly provided above)

There’s a fair chance that most people using this site live and work in clean, warm and dry accommodation, so let’s spare a thought for all the millions who have never known, and maybe never will know, the luxury of such shelter from the elements.

It's Mars Attacks!! :-)
If I was a politician, I would propose to amend the seasons system. There should be 9 months of summer, 1 month of automn, 1 month of winter and 1 month of spring. Of course, I take a firm stance at first, that's the rule of the game, but I could settle for 6 months of summer, 2 months of each automn, winter and spring.
As for rain, it should only be allowed between 3 and 7 a.m., Sunday to Thursday.
Why hasn't any party thought about it?

Maybe they should send up an arrow prayer.
Or write to Daddy Christmas.

This is my first winter in Geneva and so far its so much better than I had anticipated.
Not very cold, not too much rain or snow in the city, some nice days once in a while and a lot of snow on the mountains for skiing.
True, some more sun would be welcome but all in all I think we have it very easy.
If this is what winters will be like from now on I'm a happy man.
O

Legalkitty, Kathyl:
Are you ladies having an extra bad today, so you decided to get angry at someone cos they said the weather sucks in winter?
Even talking about the weather gets you angry now?

The bad weather can be blamed entirely on the poliitians. They are spending so much time debating quotas of immigarnats and doing nothing to ban or reduce the influx of foreign weather. Is it that difficult? Certainly in Geneva we can be sure that this foreign weather is coming from France so a quota or visa system should be easy to introduce.

Have just arrived in UK - seems Ok weather wise. P....ing down with rain and a slight breeze. Pretty standard. In fact would be worried if the sun was out. Don't want my porridge oats starved of water

Mostly I AM a "lucky devil" (you can add "old" in there if you wish!) but being fed up with this "dreadful weather", this time I actually booked a day's leave, got on a train and headed up the mountain to meet some mates.
