Drivers BEWARE, Intelligent Radar System means huge fines

Life is never fair. Newsweek, ladies and gentlemen just voted Switzerland the no.2 best place to live in the World. After Finland. They refrain from mentioning both Finland and Switzerland have the most strict traffic laws for speeding, shall I rephrase the highest/tallest/meanest fines as high as Mt. Blanc! Recently a Swede drove 360kph attaining a £650,000 fine in his SLS. He was at the time alledgely living in a caravan according to the local papers in Geneva.

So for all car lovers and enthusiasts, let this be an interesting read, as not only will your speed be monitored but to our advantage anyone trying to go up to your rear bumper will be fined. Inclusive of poor lane changes. So there are two advantages, the others: painful!

New technology to make it even safer European roads and motorways, has been presented today in Switzerland Trafistar SR590, a radar / camera last generation are considered from now as the super radar ‘anti-infringement because it promises a masterful performance in the detection of offenders, accidents or any abnormality, arrives in Europe for its implementation in key countries.

The radar Trafistar SR590 will be able to … almost everything! Is the headache for the light pedal and they love “adrenaline” thrill “or simply” become the bully on board his car “. Breaking down the attributes we will be able to detect up to 10 traffic violations and simultaneously track 22 vehicles in four lanes at once.

In addition to its broad range of action, specifically detect and notify when you exceed the speed limit, skipping traffic lights, exceed a continuous line, not respect a stop, the bus lane to misuse or failure distances security with the car in front , and will be so easy for officers and see the red number as reflected in the image.

Trafistar SR590 para Europa The Trafistar SR590 is being tested on roads near the Swiss capital will be fully in service since late August. All indications are that France will be the next country in which to implant . The system operates with a high precision camera accompanied by other traditional, the second with the purpose of taking photographs and driver registration.

The high-precision, high novelty and SR590 Trafistar attribute, record six frames per second , so it is unlikely to escape him something. His arrival to the rest of Europe will not be before 2011, because after three months of evidence in Switzerland, only to be installed in the entire country. It is manufactured by Multanova, who already has the approval to distribute.

The Trafistar SR590 is designed to improve traffic safety of drivers and vehicles, but obviously generate rejections within the sector, especially by strict criteria such as calculating the minimum distance , will apply from 1 centimeter less = fine?, criticism might be available to be perceived by drivers as a device to collect fines.

oh how MEAN to give such a high find to the Swede driving ONLY at 360 kph - the poor guy was just having a bit of FUN!

Wink

Put him in prison, that's what he deserves, not a fine!

Maybe I should ask the Geneva police to put one of those machines in the neighbourhood where I'm living, which is a 30 kph zone but apparently most car drivers don't know what the hell that may mean, nor what "priorité de droite" means...

Smile

I'm not a car driver, I'm a biker, I don't care about high fines and I don't kill anybody on the street.

The incident to which you refer, The driver in Switzelrand is fined not only for the offence , but also according to his income. This guy obviously had a very very high income and could afford it .

As for the new kind of cameras, humans should always be aware of artificial intelligence, its usually driving behind the wheel of a Swiss car...

Actually wallstbaker posted a slightly distorted version of the story...

The guy was flashed at 290 kph not 360. The papers wrote that somebody heard the guy brag that he wanted to reach 360 but that's speculation.

Also, as you correctly note, the fine is tied to the person's income. 650K lbs, or 1 million francs, is the maximum fine he could facing for that speed, again, it's just speculation.

I am not as talented in translating the paper... so good for those points. Albeit its hefty and I just do not understand why he did not drive over the border like many of us do to try out the full potential.. or a track.

eva77: I may be passionate about cars, I am very against any driver that exceeds foolishly and makes it dangerous for bikers and pedestrians in built up roads. I was hit by a car in the city of Geneva on my bike. I have in the last 3 years seen about 3 bikes hit after the moment of impact. Its not just speed, its the fact that some of the Intelligence behind the wheel may be missing!?

The report in the Guardian was 186mph, the Tribune in Geneva that I tried to read in French had a typical headliner of 360kph. Whatever his speed, its going to be painful. I also heard he was taken through the system quicker as he was in the caravan site. Again no factual info on all of this yet.

Still makes me loathe the metal bot mickeys.. as I said some advantages too.. better an optimist...

I read about this radar and i have just one word. Train :-).

Since recently being flashed by one of the lovely quai Wilson radars I have started to take the train into Geneva rather than the car. It means that I save on car repairs, fuel costs and petrol. It also means i don't have to put up with drivers 20KPh below the speed limit anymore.

On the flipside why haven't they developed cars that drive themselves yet? I'm impatient for those.

I can imagine all the women its goona flash... who drive into geneva every day, whilst ;

1) doing their make up

2) chatting on the phone w/o hands free

3) drinking coffee

4) steering with their knees

5) controlling rowdy kids in the back seat

6) crossing lanes without indicating, and smiling with a wave as they cut you up

7) speeding and tailgating

8) leaving the wrong direction indicator flashing

9) smoking a cigarette whilst doing all of the above......

Geneva will be Rich, and our taxes will drop... so its a good thing.

Just got flashed and received my first fine ever - was all worried while waiting and when receiving it I laughed and paid it immediately - I am from Denmark!

Obviously I did not go 360 KM/H and have no high earnings either ;-)

Ps. If you wanna have fun you gotta pay, stop whining about it - just hope this fabulous new robocop can rid me of annoying people having missed the fact we drive in the right side of the road and the left lane is not meant for "sunday driving"  - oh and please also rid me of all those idiots thinking that you dont have to actually look where you go, as long as you put on the blinker everyone else will just magically disappear!?
