Driving Ban/ licence removal.

Hi,

does anyone have any experience of recieving a driving ban or having their licence taken away?

I have a UK licence and have just received a letter from the Office Cantonal saying they're reviewing a speeding ticket which I received in late Sept 2009 with a view to further punishment (ie on top of the fine the police gave me).

I have 10 days to write to them outlining my position. Any ideas on good things/ bad things to say in the letter?

My ticket was for a scooter, so I'm curous if they would ban me from all motorised transport or just maybe cars?

I have had lots of speeding tickets in my first year here which may not help matters, or do they not look at it on a cumlative basis??

Anyways, any guidance would be gratefully received.

Thanks in advance....

Can't help with the letter but since you do not have a CH licence, they can't take your UK one away from you. They can and probably will ban you from driving for some period of time. This has more or less the same effect. The minimum for a CH licence is 3 months.

Before you think of ignoring the ban, remember that if you are caught, they will probably pull your permit and you are out the door. And yes, they will do it.

Good luck with the letter. Since you have not gone into any of the ugly details of your multiple speeding tickets, only you know how to best pitch your new found observance of CH traffic laws.

Good luck and let us know how it turns out.
