Driving from France through Switzerland to Germany: what to do at the customs?

Hi, I need to drive from Ferney to Germany with a car loaded with stuff (a small move). I read that I could drive through Switzerland if the stuff was not worth more than 5000 and that I'd have to declare it when entering Switzerland. What would I need to do exiting France and entering Germany?

Thanks,

M

From memory, you need to have an itemised list of everything you are bringing into Switzerland with its value - I cannot recall the form you are supposed to have completed...

If you are from a European country you are unlikely to be stopped and to be frank most border crossings are unmanned a LOT of the time

I have NO idea baout the German border though

Personally - being  acalculated risk taker - I would just compile a list of items and overall value and just go through customs

Roll down your window, look unassuming, smile, and say 'Bonjour' ;-) I went the other direction a couple of weeks ago in a smallish truck full of personal effects. I did get stopped both on entry and re-entry into Switzerland, although they appeared to be more interested in proper ownership of the car than what was on it. Driving a rental with French plates on a Swiss driver's license while producing a German passport somewhat complicated the situation, but after 15 minutes I was free to go. No further paperwork required. By the way, none of the _cars_ that went by got stopped...
