I'm not an expert but there are several English/Irish pubs in Geneva. Have a look at the guide section (sub-section 'Nightlife').

Hello Charlie. Thank you very much for your list. I hope I will be lucky at least at one of them. I have just moved from Dublin. Not speaking much French.

Cheers

All the ones Charlie listed are good, a new one opened just next to manor - The Key and Eagle - which also has predominantly english speakers where french wouldn't really be needed. Good luck!

post cafe is on rue de berne, right next to the post office. It tends to be a hangout for the more tattooed variety of folks, and plays some rock and even metal at times. Nice place but this is not not where you will meet geneva's elite for sure. People are generally friendly, and I've had fun when going there but its not one of my regular haunts so can't tell you more than that.

exactly, a little bit dodgy but girls work there too (they tend to be tattoed -up too tho) so expect that kind of crowd is all. Normally there's no problems there, its just the more 'free spirited' or 'rebel' kinda person that goes there. If you can go to a machine head/korn/metallica type concert and not have an issue with people that would attend, then you'll be fine! Just don't expect anyone going from there to the Kempinsky floor 2 or Java afterwards thats all Wink

I would think that no french would be a problem though as i never saw that many english speakers around

I am in a bit fucked up situation here I moved from Dublin was promissed work in Orbe little village half an hour from lausanne but didn't happend, they appologized that they don't have a job for me, so now i am living in lausanne, have no french at all, sending many cv everyday but wasnt lucky with anything yet  and because I have only one month place to stay. I am trying to find bar job. not easy too.

Definetely need to find room in Geneva - because there is more going on than lausanne.

Both the job and the room could be tough at the moment, but seemingly people are beginning to hire again.

Try also Nyon, there are some English speaking brokerage firms there. who often need English speaking Admin, back office staff.

Its a sleepy village/town but close enough to Geneva for nightlife. Also marginally cheaper to live there.

Good luck.
