English language summer camp in UK?

My daughter (15 years) wants to go with her French friends to an English summer camp in the UK. It should combine work with pleasure, i.e. language classes in the morning, with fun during the afternoon.

Does anyone here have any recommendations? Since the budget is far from unlimited, we want something not too expensive.

Any pointers appreciated.

I haven’t had any recent contact with the British Council in Bern but they used to have information on reputable schools organizing summer activities for non-anglophone teenagers.  One such was the Chester School of English. Chester is a charming English city, close to Stratford-on-Avon and many other places of historical and cultural interest, including the Beatles’ Liverpool.

It might be better to avoid the string of language schools on the south coast of England – with all those pupils from mainland Europe, the children tend to end up improving their Spanish or Italian.

You could also contact the British School of Geneva to see if they can suggest suitable addresses.

Lastly, I’m afraid that none of this will be exactly cheap, alas.

Hope this helps a little.
