I thought I would share that I recently was quoted CHf 6'300 at a dental clinic in Morges for whitening of my teeth (traditional method with bleach) and two new veneers on my front top-middle teeth.
I sometimes visit Barcelona on business and thought I would search "English speaking Orthodotist" and get a quote.
I found a clinic that caught my attention as they make all their prosthetics in-house, which made me encouraged it must be a pretty well equipped place.
I got a quote and it was only 1,700 Euros including a cleaning and laser-whitening (had never heard of that!) so last week I went down for it.
Facility was gorgeous- private clinic in a mansion in the Hospital district. Fluent English receptionist and hygienist and dentist.
I had the cleaning and whitening which was fantastic and all done in a 90 minute session (no nasty chemicals and very natural colour).
The dentist suggested before the veneers I could consider upper and lower braces. I am age 42 and should have had this as a kid but British dentists shyed away for some reason when my mother asked. Anyway, he said he could get a great result in 5-8 months (not the 2 years I presumed and had previously put me off). I had also been quoted in Switzerland over CHf 20'000 for this.
For the best quality white "sapphire" (therefore discreet) braces that apparently do not discolour, it will be 3,900 Euros for the orthodontics plus around 400 Euros per tooth for the ceramic veneers, of which I may need two to replace the existing ones or possibly four for an even better "smile"!
Anyway all in worst case 5,500 Euros. But possible 4,700 Euros.
As EasyJet has a breakfast-flight that lands at 8.10am most days, it is highly feasible even if I am not needing to be there (but some of the time I can combine with business), to go down and back in a day and flights are cheap, so assuming say maximum 8 flights- I will be massively in pocket and the work so far has been absolutely impeccable. The dentist practises in Paris 2 days a week (but charges double there) and also in Bilbao.
Anyway, I'll get the braces fitted on Monday and so if anyone is interested for feedback after that has been done, feel free to get in touch.
The schedule is about 90 minutes for the fitting then once every 4-5 weeks a 15 minute adjustment.
If you just have cosmetic work, he can apparently do a huge amount without braces, and this needs two appointments- one to take impressions and one for fitting. So if that is all you need it is an even bigger cost saving over local services.
Not trying to take business away from local clinics but it's a global market place and why not, especially if the work is every bit as good as you can get here (which so far I definitely believe but will really know after Monday).
