European Christmas Markets!

Yes.... Christmas is only around the corner I am afraid!

I was wondering if anyone can highlight on where you think the best Christmas markets are? Am looking for travelling somewhere for a long weekend.  Visit a European city at it's Christmas best!

All suggestions welcome! :-)

for a festive weekend of chrimbo markets probably your best bet is strasbourg, colmar, friebourg (de), and basel.  These markets are all really close to each other so more than possible in a weekend.  The 2 french ones in my list being by far the best.

From basel (as long as the french dont strike) the trains are really easy to get and means you can enjoy the gluhwine!

Montruex is a local chrimbo market which is very nice too.

In Berlin there are many, not far from each other, + there are a lot of shopping centers around with good deals. Potsdam is also great and not far.

Dusseldorf has a decent one, used to live there so I can recommend it. Book now and you can catch a cheap direct flight from GVA with Lufthansa. And best thing is you can get Cologne market in too, Cologne is only 20 minutes on the train from Dusseldorf , approx 15 euro if memory serves me right.

Thats two markets for the price of one.
