There are many around that are fed up with Taize' ad nauseam proselytism. These people wouldn't join a muslim, jew or protestant prayer group so why they feel the right to impose such pernicious propaganda on us? There is nothing shameful to feel irritated by this aggressive PR ans say so. Feel same? Voice your opinions!

All I see is that they are advertising for people to be able to help accomodate young people that are already part of their belief system and need a place to stay for a couple of days.

I must admit I've not seen anything about it - are there adverts on the site, or just around in Geneva (working at CERN, I don't see as much of central Geneva as some people here, so I can well believe I've missed something).
And actually, I'd never even heard of Taize before reading your post ... so I've learnt something today at least! ;-)

Doesn't look like an accomodation ad nor like a "member" activity.... at any rate it should be in "events" :) don't you agree?

After reading some make sense posts and thinking about it, I realize "obnoxious" is not quite deserved. Humble apologies to anyone that might have felt offended.
PS: As someone asked, PR stands for "public relations", another word for proselytism

I thought that this was the act of converting someone to your own ways and belief systems thus causing them to be a proselyte. And Public Relations is charitable or works of good will!!!
But I do agree with you that maybe member activities was not the appropriate place for this to have been posted.
Seasons greetings to you.

an international ecumenical movement for young Christians based in France. For more, see www.taize.fr. I have passed by any number of churches over the past couple of weeks and have not even been approached for space let alone money. Neither have they implored me to "turn my life over to the Lord." In one article on the website, an adherent even mentions CERN as well worth the visit, so they don't seem to be espousing so-called "intelligent design"/creationism claptrap.
Peace on earth goodwill to all.

... just watch it like this:
Even if I totally agree with you on the little sympathy for this kind of religious proselytism, I realised that this kind of goody-goody meetings are very often the first real occasion for christian-bred kids to get out of their christian homes and misbehave without parents' control.
Most people I know who went to (the very christian) Scout camps had sex for the very first time there (and got drunk and tried marijuana...).
I suspect that not many people come back virgin out of Taize!
Think positive! ;-)
