Figuring out the Swiss Tax System...
Apart from you lucky UN folks, surely there must be plenty out there having the 'pleasure' of filing a Swiss tax return.. Would appreciate if anyone knows or can suggest a local tax preparer / tax specialist that I can consult with. In particular i'm trying to see what sor of documentation (i.e. personal yr end statements from bank accts, etc) is mandatory when filing the return. If there's anyone out there with experience of filing a dual US tax returns to boot, even better. Would like to chat with you. Thanks!

not sure exactly, as i live in France, but i get loads of paperwork from the Swiss in order to file my French tax papers, so i'm guessing you'll get everything you need in time. either way, your employer should be able to answer any question you might have.

Actually, it's usually not that hard, if it's something more or less standard, you can probably do it by yourself. Obviously, if you earn like 400k a year, a tax consultant would probably make you save more than he costs.
Usually the fastest and easiest is to use the software that the local administration provides, called GeTax. You could find it there: http://etat.geneve.ch/getax/04/index.jsp
But it looks there is unfortunately no english version, but if you speak some french you should do alright.
Good luck!
Remy
